Building Scale-up Leadership Teams

OpenBlend, a B2B SaaS provider specialising in employee happiness and workforce management solutions, partnered with us during their critical transition from start-up to scale-up in 2021. Following significant client wins and new funding, they needed to rapidly expand their technical and customer success leadership.

Successfully placed key technical and customer success leaders who transformed into C-suite executives, while building high-performing teams around them.

The Challenge

OpenBlend needed to simultaneously strengthen their technical foundation and customer success operations. They required a Head of Technology capable of scaling their platform for significant user growth, and a VP of Customer Success to develop their CS function. Both roles demanded leaders who could contribute strategically while building and managing teams.

The Solution

We implemented a two-pronged approach. For technical leadership, we leveraged our network to secure a proven leader and rapidly built an engineering team around them. For customer success, we conducted a retained executive-search, creating a comprehensive market map of the B2B SaaS space and actively headhunting experienced leaders.

The Results

We successfully placed both leadership positions - the Head of Technology and VP Customer Success (since promoted to CCO). We then built out their teams, including Technical Leads, Senior Engineers, QA leadership, and CS specialists. Our partnership continues to support OpenBlend's growth through UX design and CS team expansion.
