European General Manager, Full Search

Propel were first introduced to SimpliSafe in early 2017. At the time SimpliSafe were considering the location of a European headquarters and starting to formulate a clear understanding of the profile they would be looking to hire into the post of European General Manager (GM).

Following the final decision to locate the European office in Manchester, SimpliSafe contacted Propel in March 2018 and engaged us to run a search for the GM position. The candidate needed to be a proven marketer, with a track record of building marketing teams in e-commerce organisations, who had risen into general leadership and management positions.

The search began in May and focused on candidates based in the North West. In July, SimpliSafe were acquired by US private equity firm Hellman & Friedman (H&F). H&F were keen to ensure that the candidate also had previous experience of working with PE backed businesses. SimpliSafe and H&F chose the successful candidate following an exhaustive search of e-commerce leaders nationwide and made the appointment at the beginning of November, with the successful candidate beginning the role in January 2019.
